The work, that led to the development of the first practical television video tape recorder, did not flow from divine inspiration or a miraculous break through onto the road to success. The first video recorder was the end product of over four years of hard and, at times, inspired, work by a team of individuals, who brought their own unique skills to bear on the endless problems that confronted this pioneering development team. At times, progress was agonizing slow, and twice, during this time period, the project was placed on the shelf, to await an uncertain destiny.
